![]() ![]() ![]() Mission 11: Escort: Much like Blockade, this is a slow burner, but the melody in the climax more than makes up for it (fun fact, in this mission, piloting one of the airliners you're protecting is a woman named Nagase, the same name as one of your squadmates in 5).Mission 8: Shattered Skies (Comona): The hardest rocking of all songs in the series (fun fact, when I was a kid, I thought that this was going to be the last mission because it was called Shattered Skies, the North American subtitle for the game). ![]() Mission 6: Invincible Fleet: I love the slow buildup in this track that leads to an extraordinary climax.Mission 4: Blockade: Those strings at the end are so fucking good.Mission 1: Sitting Ducks: That orchestral climax does an excellent job at selling the desperation of the mission.Some standouts from 4's soundtrack include: Of course, it wasn't just Kobayashi working on 4's soundtrack, it was also Tetsukazu Nakanishi, Hiroshi Okubo, and Katsuro Tajima. Many of the tracks have a progressive nature and oftentimes introduce new instruments later in the track for the main hook. For instance, 4 had a heavy emphasis on a mixture of hard rock mixed with orchestral tunes. In addition to being a lead composer in most of the AC games since 4, many of you might recognize his work on the Smash 4 main theme: Take a listenīut ever since he started composing music for the series, each game gained a certain identity through its music. This guy might just be the most underappreciated composer in games. ![]()
